Sharon Clarkson is an author, writer, poet, and former professor from the College of Southern Maryland. Ms. Clarkson holds an MBA in Finance from Strayer University and BBA in Computer Information Systems from Howard University. She has over twenty-five years of experience in Computer Information Technology in both the public and private sector.
In 2011, she pursued her love of writing and released her first book of poetry called, My Dream. Readers quickly discovered the passion in Ms. Clarkson words, and the inspirational messages in each poem. There was an array of inspirational poems in her first book such as Give Up, My Dream, Closer, You Shall Be Healed, Moment and Forgive. She hopes her thoughts will drive others to their own successes.
Ms. Clarkson has received very favorable reviews of her book from all over the country. That year, her book was reviewed by the White House, Tom Joyner, O Magazine and the Midwest Book Review. In 2012, Ms. Clarkson received the International Who’s Who in Poetry award. The same year, she produced and released an amazing music CD. It consisted of sixteen selected poems, from the book, My Dream, each poem spoken along with jazzy music. She wanted readers to hear the poetry as she speaks each word.
Ms. Clarkson has been a guest author on Girl Talk TV “Authors on the Rise”, interviewed on GTV Media Group, interviewed on Radio One, Talk Radio, PWN Blog Talk Radio show and performed at local venues and galleries throughout the area. She held book signings and appeared at several local military bases.
In May 2018, she released her second inspirational poetry book about love, relationships, and spirituality, called My Dream Continues. You'll enjoy poems such as Love, His Secret, Finish, My life, He Who is Destined. and many others In her leisure time, she supports and networks with other authors and enjoys the beach, and traveling.
